All cars come with a standard recommended oil which is printed in the owners manual. A large part of this is testing various oil weights and taking into account warranty issues, performance, climate and For whatever reason, some people chose to skirt this suggestion in search of their own oil.

Start with a heavy weight oil. The oil is too thin and it's falling off the parts causing metal on metal contact with no intermediary such as oil.

So, if as you're doing oil changes to lighter and lighter weight oil and you start to hear the valve tap, back it off to a heavier weight oil and you'll be sure to protect your engine and still get suburb performance.
